2024 Could Be a Banner Year

2024 Could Be a Banner Year

The 2024 deer is off to an incredible start, largely we’re told thanks to a cold front that chilled things in Kentucky for its traditional bow opener. If you ever wanted proof that cooler weather encourages buck movement in late summer/early fall, here it is.

We’ve gotten so many Kentucky giants sent our way that people are complaining on social media wanting to see deer from other states. Of course, now that more states have opened their seasons (Kentucky has one of the earliest bow openers and is one of the few states where a hunter has a real chance at taking a velvet buck), we’ll start to see other areas represented in our buck alerts.

One of those that deserves some attention is the big Perfect shot by Cody Troutman in Franklin County, Kansas.

Not many Perfects crack the 170-inch mark, but Cody’s buck does that and then some at 175 4/8. As a clean 10, that’s impressive.

It’s the fifth-biggest Perfect 10-pointer (without spread) ever taken with a compound bow in Kansas, which is saying something.

Another notable 2024 buck comes from Ohio and bowhunter Brent Williamson. Brent shot a 190-inch Irregular with his compound on Sept. 29.

Brent’s 19-pointer was scored by BTR master scorer Ed Waite, who will have the story for us in a future issue of Buckmasters.

And more giants are falling every day! Stay tuned to Buckmasters social media outlets to keep up with all the breaking news!
