Ronald Bencinic's 190-inch 7x7 with double drop tines is the second-largest whitetail ever felled in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, according to Buckmasters Trophy Records. Ronald got it done during a downpour on public land in December 2022.
"I knew there was a big buck in the area," Ronald told Buckmasters. "I noticed some huge rubs for three straight years but had never seen the deer in person or on camera before."
The 55-year-old remembers when the state implemented wildlife management areas officially in 2003, and he said he's hunted what became known as Wildlife Management Area 1A, along the Ohio-Pennsylvania state line, since the early 1980s.
On a cold and wet morning two weeks into the state's rifle opener, Ronald noticed this 14-pointer just after 7:30 a.m. and determined right away it was a mature deer worthy of his wall. He put his scope on the buck as it topped a hill hot on a doe's trail, got a good sight picture at 35 yards and connected with the top of both lungs.
Buckmasters scorer Will Leonard measured this bruiser at 193 4/8 inches for BTR's irregular category for centerfire rifle bucks. Ronald's Lawrence County runner-up is second only to the Ambrosia Buck (259 2/8 BTR) harvested in 2001.
The rack's drop tines measured 10 4/8 inches and 9 6/8 inches to go with the rack's 20-inch inside spread.
