Alexander Rahmoeller may not be old enough to drive, but he's old enough to hunt, and therefore old enough to etch his name in BTR's record book.
The 14-year-old's third whitetail ever claimed Indiana's #4 spot in the semi-irregular category for centerfire rifle deer on opening weekend of his state's 2022 rifle season. And he made it happen all by himself.
Despite having never shot a gun more than 200 yards, the kid made a gutsy call to throw lead at this 200-inch hammer more than 265 yards away.
Alexander connected through both lungs and dropped the 13-pointer in its tracks.
"When I first saw him, I said to myself, ‘Man, that's a far shot.' But I've never had an opportunity like this, I was thinking I should take it," Alexander told Buckmasters. "I didn't want to wound him but wanted to take the shot. I flipped my safety off and started shaking really bad. I got myself steady, aimed a little high and pulled the trigger. By the time I cycled another bullet he was flopping around on the ground."
Buckmasters scorer Jim Moore measured this Jasper County buck at 203 inches at the Indiana Deer, Turkey & Waterfowl Expo in February 2023.
The rack features 181 inches of antler and a 21-inch inside spread. Five of the 11 typical points measured more than 10 inches, including a 13 4/8-inch P2 on the left.
