2016 deer harvest estimates reveal 5% increase

New York state hunters in harvested an estimated 213,061 deer during the 2016-17 hunting seasons, an estimated 5percent increase over 2015-16 levels.

2017 spring turkey harvest was third highest

Hunters harvested more than 13,000 wild turkeys during the 2017 spring wild turkey season, a 7 percent increase from the 12,081 turkeys taken during the 2016 spring season.
It is the third highest spring turkey harvest on record.

Spring turkey harvest up 18% over 10 year average

Spring turkey hunters harvested 11,539 gobblers this year, an increase of more than 11 percent from 2016, according to preliminary numbers. The harvest is the largest since 2006 when 11,735 birds were harvested, and is more than 18 percent above the 10-year average.
