Sunshine Can Make You Cry
By Ken Piper
With turkey season just around the corner or already started in some states, deer hunters can look to their spring brethren for some tips. It's not a coincidence that most turkey guns today come already coated in camouflage. And turkey chasers who use blued shotguns almost always cover their guns with camo tape or the special gun socks now available.
While turkeys see better than deer, it doesn't take a sharp eye to notice sunshine reflecting off a shiny gun or scope. One small movement is all it takes to catch the sun just right (or wrong) and send a deer running.
Cover your deer gun with camo. As with turkey guns, several companies make removable cloth coverings for the most popular models of deer shotguns and rifles.
Also, be aware of the sun's position and think about how it might reflect off your equipment or shine into the opening of your scope.
