The peak of the rut is here, or will come soon just about everywhere hunters pursue whitetails. It's an exciting time to be in the woods, but we sometimes tend to complicate it more than necessary. Scents and lures can work during this vulnerable time for the bucks, but you still need to be in the right place. Now is a great time to head back to those major trails you scouted or hunted when going after does. Or maybe you gave up on a stand because all you saw from it were does -- if so, the peak of the rut is the time to head back to that doe stand. The buck that wouldn't dare set foot on that major doe trail two weeks ago could come walking by any minute now. Be ready.
