There are two weeks left to apply for the public alligator lottery; applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. June 15.
A $10 nonrefundable application fee is required to apply for the randomized computer drawing based on a preference point system to determine hunter selection. The 2022 public alligator season begins at noon Sept. 10 and runs through noon Oct. 8.
Tag fees for hunters selected are $100. Additional fees apply to nonresident hunters. Applicants will be notified by email of selection status. Current applicants can change their application location preferences or convert to a points only, and vice-versa, until the lottery closes.
Applicants can apply and pay fees online, or at a DNR Regional Office walk-up counter in Clemson, Florence, Columbia, Aynor or Charleston.

By law, the fees collected support the Alligator Management Program research and management activities and conservation of the American Alligator in South Carolina.
The SCDNR will closely monitor the hunts, and the harvest and regulations may be modified for future seasons. Hunters are asked to check the SCDNR website to apply for the alligator hunts, as well as for more information and any changes or updates.
