4-H kids light up the Buckmasters Top Bow range to crown two champions.
There’s more than one world champion crowned at the Buckmasters Top Bow Indoor World Championship, and while there might not be a big paycheck that goes along with their titles, the winners of the Buckmasters 4-H Invitational are no less deserving of the accolades.
More than 75 4-H archers from across the country gathered in Montgomery over the weekend and competed for the right to take on the Buckmasters Top Bow Indoor Word Championship archery course. Six Senior Division shooters and six Junior Division shooters earned the honors, and they competed for the championship of their respective divisions.
Leo Varos, a 16-year-old from Athens, Texas, blew away the Top Bow targets – a course that challenges the world’s best archers during the Buckmasters Top Bow championship competition – to claim the Senior Division.
Alabamian Braylin Lewis, a 14-year-old from Holtville, claimed the Junior Division after a very close competition that had to be decided by a one-arrow tiebreaker. His final shot was just a little closer than Hailey Wilson’s, the second-place finisher from New Brockton, Ala.
“These kids blew me away with their shooting skills,” said Buckmasters Top Bow Rangemaster Mike Foster. “They overcame their nerves and were knocking down targets that challenge the professionals. They are so much fun to be around, and we are truly honored to host such outstanding youth at our venue.”
Each of the top six place finishers in the two divisions received gorgeous silver belt buckles courtesy of Montana Silversmiths. The division champions also received $1,000 gift cards from Hoffy’s Archery in Lampasas, Texas.
