Out-of-state turkey hunters traveling to Mississippi in 2023 should be aware the Nonresident Public Land License Endorsement requirement continues during this season.
Nonresident hunters are required to obtain the special no-cost Public Land Endorsement in addition to other regularly required licenses when hunting any open public lands between March 15 and March 28.
Applications at mdwfp.com will stay open until 10 a.m. February 15. Once the application period closes, a drawing will be conducted and winners will be notified by email. Applicants must provide an active email address because winners will be required to claim their endorsement.
This license endorsement provides a way to mitigate the increased demand put on the species for those opening two weeks.
The Public Land License Endorsement is not necessary to nonresidents hunting private lands or to those visiting Mississippi’s public lands after March 28. Hunters desiring to hunt Wildlife Management Areas with an existing draw-only season still have to apply to those specific WMAs separately through the traditional draw hunt process.
Applications are open until February 15 to apply for an existing permit-only WMA Draw Hunt. Click here to learn more.
All turkey hunters are required to report their turkey harvest by 10 p.m. on the day it occurs. MDWFP makes the reporting process quick and easy on the MDWFP app. To learn more and download, click here.
