Preliminary season deer harvest sees minor decrease

Hunters check 9,000+ deer during 2-day gun season

Popular firearms season sees 12% boost to harvest

Maryland hunters reported taking 35,078 deer during the two-week firearm season Nov. 26 to Dec. 10.
The harvest total was 12 percent higher than last year’s total of 31,304. Fair weather and a reduced harvest in September and October contributed to the increase. Over 4,300 deer were taken on the two Sundays during the season.
