16 arrested in 3 states for feral hog violations

A long term investigation by Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries conservation officers has led to arrest warrants for 16 people in seven Alabama counties and two other states for the illegal transport, release or live possession of feral pigs.

Gun season opening day sees drop in deer harvest

Hunters checked 18,776 white-tailed deer Nov. 28, the opening day of Ohio’s deer-gun hunting season. In 2015, 22,253 deer were reported the first day of the deer-gun season.
Ohio’s deer-gun season remains open through Dec. 4. Two additional days of deer-gun season, Dec. 17 and 18, are available for people to hunt with firearms.

Preliminary 3-day bear harvest trails previous seasons

Hunters during the third day of Pennsylvania’s statewide bear season harvested 415 bears, raising the three-day total to 2,308 – an about 8 percent decrease compared to the 2,487 bears taken during the first three days of the 2015 season.

185,000 deer taken in firearms season; youth hunt sees increase

Preliminary data shows deer hunters in Missouri harvested 185,066 deer during the November portion of fall firearms deer season, Nov. 12-22.
Of the 185,066 deer harvested, 95,383 were antlered bucks, 18,889 were button bucks, and 70,794 were does. Top harvest counties were Howell with 3,910 deer checked, Franklin with 3,738, and Texas with 3,562.

Arkansas changes feral hog harvest rule for WMAs

Hunters can now harvest feral hogs during firearms deer, bear or elk seasons on AGFC-managed wildlife management areas.

Mandatory CWD testing of harvested deer in 2 counties
