New interactive map, 2015-16 deer hunter survey available

By Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission

The Deer Management Program has a new tool for Florida deer hunters—an interactive Florida Buck Registry map showing where entries are located by county.

Hunters can search the new map by antler score range, year, method of take and typical or non-typical antlers. Also available is a map of Florida with color-coded counties based on which counties have the highest antler scores or most number of entries.

Find it by clicking here. For more information about Florida deer management and hunting click here.

Also, now available to hunters are results from the annual scientific survey of licensed deer hunters in Florida in the 2015-16 hunting season.

FWC commissioned Responsive Management, an internationally recognized public opinion and attitude survey research firm specializing in natural resource and outdoor recreation issues to conduct the survey.

The survey determined deer harvest in Florida by deer management unit (DMU) during the 2015-2016 hunting season. In June 2016, the firm interviewed by telephone a random sample of deer hunters in each of the 12 DMUs to collect data on the number of people who hunted deer, where they hunted (county or WMA), how many days they hunted, what methods of take were used, how many deer they harvested (bucks and does), and number of antler points.
